Tuesday 29th July

We had a productive meeting with the very lovely occupational therapist yesterday, and we will be having some equipment delivered on Thursday – aids to help him use the toilet and shower safely, a proper reclining chair and a bed for the front room. Some of these he will use straight away, others when he feels he needs them.

Yesterday we followed our usual pattern – Darren drowses whilst watching YouTube, interspersed with computer stuff. Proper sleep early afternoon, followed by a visit to the chemist to pick up one of his prescriptions. He came with me and enjoyed being out and about in the car. Eddie and I then went out to pick up a single bed which can go alongside the hospital bed and we can continue to sleep in the same bed, so to speak. Early evening Darren instructed me how to use the circular saw as we needed to cut some shelves for the 3D printer to sit on. My straight line was met with approval, thankfully! I know it gives Darren a lot of peace to see me gain confidence in my DIY skills.

This morning he is drowsy – he says if he’s not doing something he will just fall asleep. Two small snacks and a coffee gave him enough energy for a shortened session with his counsellor, and now he is sat in the lounge with me watching an electronics video. He is most comfortable in the zero gravity garden chair I bought for him, so we’ve brought that inside, hence the need for a proper reclining chair.

Tomorrow Tom and Amber are coming over to help move furniture around in preparation for the bed’s arrival.

I don’t find these posts easy to write so I’m just keeping them factual, but even that is taking me forever, so I need to just write updates and not overthink them. If they don’t read well, I know you’ll forgive me ❤
