Rallying was a huge part of my life for about a decade. I loved it, and it’s one of the few things I ever did that I didn’t judge myself on, and had some incredible experiences doing it and learning a lot about myself and lots of other things at the same time.
I stopped at the right time, when it was time to concentrate more on my relationship with T and the kids. Always felt natural to do this.
And yes, I spent a HUGE amount of money doing it. Basically all my spare money for several years, and all my spare time. It was the only way to do it for me. It’s expensive.
A conversation with a friend got me thinking about whether or not I still had all the files from the blog. And a search of my computer showed I did! But it’s a (even then out-of-date) installation of WordPress, and I won’t bore you with the technical details, but let’s say it took several days of learning new stuff (Docker) and getting past security, technical and all sorts of issues to get it up and running. I finally had the blog up and running here, looking as it did back in the day. But I could only see it myself, running it on my macbook. That’s no good!
So, long story short, I got a free domain (hence the .fun ending as there was a voucher for it being free), and I now have the blog up and running if anyone wants to take a look. Some of the images are missing, and it’s striking how few pictures I actually put up. I have others here (just from taking them as we went round) but even doing Rallly GB in 2010 there’s not a load. But this was my life at that time.
As with anything, no expectations – if no-one else reads it, that’s fine. It’s a little piece of me that will be back on the internet for a short while, and was a fun technical challenge that I overcame, step by step, block by block.

As ever, thanks for reading. And don’t feel obliged to read all of that!
