**update** Antibiotics seemed to have helped and he’s feeling better today, having gone to sleep at 7.30pm last night. He saw his nurse today who has tweaked his sleep meds as he’s not been sleeping well at all. He’s absolutely exhausted but has sat up today. It’ll be a week of taking things very easy.

This blog was originally created with the intention of me updating our wonderful friends how Darren is, but as you know by now, he is a fantastic writer and is using it to communicate his thoughts on life, the universe and everything. His writing is one of his therapies and there are lots of ideas he wants to pass on. I’m very thankful for the role writing is playing at this time.
But, back to the original intention of keeping you updated. He has struggled to recover from being ill whilst away, and had a very high temperature this morning. He was seen by a doctor at home, 90 minutes after I first rang (which is amazing!) and Dr Jones, who was Paul Burley’s double (which was also amazing!), thinks he has an infection. So he’s on strong antibiotics and I’m hoping he’ll feel better soon. Other than temperature, all other vitals were normal.
I’m not the writer in this family so I’m sure he’ll write more poetically later. I did want to say however that he is, hands down, the most courageous person I have ever met as being ill when you are so far away from home is exceptionally difficult.
