Ibiza

So, on Sunday, we are going to Ibiza. This might sound like a strange thing to be doing… but early on in this process, one of the things I realised I was really going to miss was the times we spent together in Ibiza. I spent a long time telling T how much she would enjoy it, and finally in 2022 we went together. And she did love it. We went to see Martin Garrix at Ushuaïa – in one of those great moments where we just about got a taxi in time, and it looked like we were never going to make it. We walked into it just as he started and it was an unforgettable night. The lights, the music, the atmosphere, the dancing. Everything was perfect – a peak experience for both of us.

We’re not much for taking videos as there’s always better available, but this is the only brief one – https://photos.app.goo.gl/PkJfsRq3m8rmnPGa7 – but of course it doesn’t get across how good this felt.

We returned to Ushuaïa a couple of times afterwards – once when on our honeymoon cruise, and once after it had ended we stayed at the hotel… not because we’re bling, but because they take tesco clubcard points which only about 3 hotels in Ibiza did. It was expensive, but it was worth it.

So, I wanted to go back. I never thought I’d be alive long enough to be able to see it – I didn’t want to visit when all the clubs were closed, and we’re going as early as possible to go to Ushuaïa as well as Pacha. So that’s what we are doing next week. Being us, because this is what we would have done anyway, just in a condensed timescale.

Fortunately, Jet2 do holidays from Bournemouth to Ibiza which makes things a lot easier and it’s not crazy money to do it. The nights out can be expensive, but the holiday itself – including flights and all inclusive hotel – is less than it would cost to stay in a Premier Inn in London for the same dates – £630 versus £780 at Premier Inn. Which doesn’t include food. Or access to the best clubs in the world.

So this is actually a sensible option at this point. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
